A spoken word and musical gathering honoring the life and Green activism of Allen Ginsberg.

Featured Contributors:

Ann Charters: Professor of American Literature at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, author of Kerouac: A Biography 1973, reads from Best Minds: A Tribute to Allen Ginsberg (1986).

Gordon Ball: Editor of Allen Ginsberg’s Journals Early Fifties Early Sixties, and Journals Mid-Fifties 1954-1958; professor, filmmaker (Farm Diary), author; reads from his memoir East Hill Farm: Seasons with Allen Ginsberg. 

Patrick Warner: Curator of GINSBERG : GREEN, friend of the poet, reads from selected Ginsberg texts & interviews that exemplify & manifest Ginsberg’s Green Consciousness.

Steve Benson & Jordan Hoffman: Massachusetts-based composers/musicians, perform original music and atmospherics to accompany the spoken texts.

Kevin Keady: Songwriter, musician, one time caretaker of East Hill Farm, performs Ginsberg songs including “Gospel Noble Truths” and “Do the Meditation Rock”

Program:

6:00 pm: LIT.MIX.:. A get-together of local literary and environmental groups, book vendors, poets/writers, Beat scholars & enthusiasts, you. Collaborative art, networking, general creative hobnobbing, music, cash bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

7:45 – 8:00: Heart Sutra chant, introduction & welcome
